Troy- Ralph G. Erickson, 85 of Latham, formerly of Eagle Mills and Port Richey, Florida, died peacefully Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Nyack, New York, he was a 1951 graduate of Pearl River High and an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from New York State after fifteen years of service.
Ralph was a former volunteer fire fighter and a member of the American Legion Post #1392 of Indian Lake, NY where he enjoyed spending his summers. He was also an avid New York Giants football and Boston Red-Sox baseball fan.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janet Erickson; his four children, Diane (John) Cipperly, Donna (Jeff) Hurteau, Linda (Mark) Clayton, Ken (Kim) Erickson; a sister; Margaret Bond of Matthews, NC; twelve grandchildren, Matthew (Heather), Sarah, Noah, Laura (Dave), Craig (Natalie), Scott (Beth), Melissa, Valerie (Andy), Brent, Ralph, Jenna and Emily; his four great-grandchildren, Erin, AJ, Natalie and Charlie. In addition to his late parents, John and Catherine (Chichester) Erickson, Ralph was predeceased by two brothers, John and William.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 50 Leversee Road in Speigletown on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. and attend a Celebration of Ralph’s Life, officiated by Rev. Jim Slater at Noon. Interment with military honors will follow at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Veterans Cemetery in Schuylerville at 2:30 P.M.
At the family’s request, memorial contributions rather than flowers in Ralph’s memory may be made to the American Legion Post #1392, 1392 Main Street, Indian Lake, NY 12842.
