Ballston Lake- Rebecca C. (Stevens) Hooker, 70, formerly of Pittstown and more recently Ballston Lake, died peacefully Monday, September 26, 2022, at her residence following a short illness.
Born in Pittstown, June 26, 1952, Rebecca was the daughter of the late Ralph J. and Catherine (Goman) Stevens.
After attending the local district school, she graduated from Hoosic Valley High School in 1970.
On October 24, 1981, she married the man of her dreams, Virgil O. Hooker, and established their home. After more than 11 years of marriage, he predeceased her on July 19, 1993.
In 1994, Rebecca took a position with Key Bank Corporation as an accounts clerk working in the bank’s corporate office in Albany. Following 25 years of service, she retired in 2019.
Rebecca liked to keep her room neat as a young girl and was always organized. As an adult, she was an excellent housekeeper and took great personal pride in keeping her home as neat as a pin. She also enjoyed shopping with her sisters and the many trips they shared going to the local malls.
Rebecca is survived by her siblings, Ralph and Lori Stevens, Gilbert Stevens, Irene “Arlene” Hull, Maureen and Austin Subcliff, and Martha “Marty’ Yager, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and late husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Gerald Stevens, Donald Stevens, George Stevens, Christopher Stevens, and Charles Stevens, a sister, Joan Slater, and a brother-in-law, Loren Hull.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown. A funeral service for Rebecca will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Silvernail officiating. Burial, next to her beloved husband, Virgil, will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke.
