Raymertown - Richard Scott “Rick” Bogan, 59, died peacefully Saturday, November 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home following a valiant and courageous battle with cancer.
Rick was born October 6, 1964, in Bridgeport, CT. He is the son of Josephine T. and the late Robert J. Bogan, and Robin and Lesa Ray. He has been the devoted husband of Theresa M. (Ruebel) Bogan for over 31 years.
Rick grew up in Florida, but as a young man, he traveled up and down the east coast for a period of time, until he met Theresa, the love of his life. He and Theresa were married on August 22, 1992, and together built a life and raised a family. Rick was immensely proud of all of his children and their accomplishments, but he may be most remembered for his presence on the sideline of many sporting events, as he loudly cheered on not only his children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews, but the entire team.
Rick was a lifelong and avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and spent Sunday afternoons watching football with his family. He enjoyed phoning his mom and brothers and greeting them with various ‘Rick-isms,’ riding his Harley Davidson, playing cards with his buddies, golfing in the Thursday night men’s league at Waubeeka Golf Links, playing indoor golf during the off-season, and spending time with family and friends at many holidays, birthday parties, and weekend gatherings throughout the years.
Rick had many abilities and was a skilled auto mechanic, painter, and carpenter, and was able to repair or rebuild just about anything. He was always there to lend a hand to family and friends with whatever project they were working on. He realized his life’s calling was in the carpentry field while working with his true friend Billy Jolin (Infinity Builders). He truly enjoyed not only his work but the relationships he developed over the years.
In addition to his beloved wife, mother, and father, Rick is survived by his children and their spouses, Katie L. and Duane Bristol, Brittany T. and Daniel Elliott, Robert J. and Corrin Bogan, and Tyler S. Bogan, his father-in-law and his wife, Henry and Judy Ruebel, his mother-in-law and her husband, Alice and Tom McNally, his siblings, Robert (Iris) Bogan, Patrick (Sharon) Bogan, Cooper Ray, and Stacy Ray, grandchildren, Taylor, Keaghan, Trystan, Korbyn, and Porter, his sisters and brothers in-law, Dawn (Ryan) Quinn, Gwenn (Corey) Bishop, Henry (Gretchen) Ruebel, and Nicholas Ruebel, nieces and nephews, Casey, Jacob, Michael, Molly, Henry, Ben, Rylie, Gabe, Sean, Rowan, and Ella, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many good friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc, 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. A celebration of life gathering and interment for Rick will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Rick’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all their friends, including Delsignore Paving, the Raymertown Volunteer Fire Co., and the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps. for the love and support shown to them during Rick’s illness. The family requests no flowers please, but rather a contribution made to either the Raymertown Volunteer Fire Company, 43 Mason Lane, Raymertown, NY 12180, or Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps., 60 Parker School Road, Johnsonville, NY 12094, in memory of Richard S.
