Pittstown- Sharon A. Ray, 68, a resident of Pittstown for the last three years, died peacefully, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy following a short illness.
Born in Brookfield, May 12, 1948, Sharon was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Cole) Ray Sr.
Sharon was a graduate of Norwich High School.
As a young woman she was employed for many years at the former Norwich Shoe Factory, until its closure, after which, she moved to Stillwater, and later Troy. More recently, she worked for four years as a school bus monitor for the Folmsbee Transportation Co. in Waterford. She retired in 2014.
Sharon was a busy homemaker who adored her grandchildren and cared for her home. She loved to go fishing and spend time with her family and friends.
Her survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Trevis and Anna Ray Sr. of Greene, a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Tim Christian of Pittstown, five grandchildren, Trevis Ray Jr. of Waterford, America Ray, Elisa Scully, Duane Scully Jr., and Cheyenne Christian, all of Pittstown, her brother and God Son, Raymond Ray of Stillwater, seven additional brothers and sisters, Irene Jakeway of Columbus, Devaris Ray of FL, Harold Ray of Greene, Evelyn Sabins of Oxford, Michael Ray of Sherburne, Daniel Ray of Edmeston, Douglas Ray of New Berlin, two great grandchildren, Havanna Ray and Liam Ray, four special nephews, Shawn Ray, Ryan Ray, Dillon Ray and Christopher Ray and several additional nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters; the late George Ray Jr., Albert Ray, Lyndon "Pete" Ray, Phillip "Eugene" Ray, Ruth Jones, Beverly Eckerd, Sandra Stringham and Mary Ray.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4:00-7:00 P.M., on Friday, September, 16, 2016, at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
