
Pittstown- Tom W. Hubbard, 68, a lifelong resident of Pittstown, died peacefully Tuesday, July 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home following a short but courageous battle with ALS.
Born in Troy, August 11, 1954, Tom was the son of the late Rev. David and Esther B. (Hewitt) Hubbard and, for over 41 years, the devoted husband of Susan M. (Roberts) Hubbard of Pittstown, who survives. Tom and Sue were married on April 3, 1982.
Tom graduated from Tamarac High School. He went to work right away and was employed at the former Warren Wire Co. before entering the apprenticeship program at the Watervliet Arsenal, where he was employed for 26 years until retiring in 1999. He later worked as a quality control inspector at the former Troy Built Co. and, most recently, was employed as a manager of the calibration department by the Philips Medical System Co. in Latham before retiring for good in 2016.
Tom was a member of the Pittstown United Methodist Church, a life member of the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps., was a coach with the Brunswick Soccer Club for five years, and was an avid outdoorsman.
In addition to spending time with family and friends, Tom loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed camping with Sue, especially in the Adirondacks, where he enjoyed the beauty of nature God created for us.
In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his children, Amanda Hubbard-Andreine (Chris Plaske) of Voorheesville and Brian Hubbard (Matthew McGillivray) of East Greenbush, his brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Pat Hubbard of Pittstown, his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Gary Johnston of NC, his father-in-law, John “Pa” (Joyce Dickinson) Roberts of Raymertown, his brother-in-law, Randy (Kathy) Rumpf of Grafton, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Howard B Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. A funeral service for Tom will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pittstown United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Knapp and Rev. Bill Elwell and Ben Krahforst, officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke.
