Halfmoon- Wayne E. Thomas, 58, formerly of Raymertown and more recently Halfmoon, died September 17, 2018 after being stricken at his residence.
         
Born in Troy, October 27, 1959, Wayne was the son of the late Robert F. Thomas Sr. and Charlotte (Hall) Thomas and for several years the husband of the late Julia Thomas.
         
Wayne was a graduate of Tamarac High School.
         
On January 14, 1979 he enlisted in the United States Navy.   After completing basic training he was stationed aboard the USS Concord where he earned the rank of Yeoman First Class. Following three years of service, including more than thirty months at sea, he was honorably discharged on January 15, 1982.
         
Upon returning home from the Navy, Wayne was employed as a laborer for several area businesses working in the construction trades.
         
At the time of his passing, Wayne was survived by his mother, Charlotte of Pittstown, a sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Marc Quinones of Florida, two brothers, Robert F. Thomas Jr. of Pittstown and Kyle Thomas of Sydney, NY,  a paternal aunt and uncle, Mary Defreest and John Thomas, both of Pittstown, a maternal aunt, Elsie Schneider of Louisiana, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  
         
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a committal service with military honors for Wayne to be held Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Veterans Cemetery in Schuylerville.
         
At the request of the family, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers, may be made to either the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps or to The Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Wayne E. Thomas.
