Troy- William E. “Bill” Pratt, 67, of Troy, died suddenly, Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Schenectady, July 19, 1954, Bill was the son of the late William F. (Charlotte Pratt) and Judith (Gorton) Pratt. He attended the Mohonasen Central Schools and received an Associate of Arts Degree in Computer Sciences from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy. For more than 43 years, Bill was employed as a mechanic by the Cohoes Bowling Arena Corporation. He maintained the machines of the company’s three bowling alleys and also provided support to many other alleys and mechanics throughout the Capital District.
Bill devoted his life to coaching youth bowling. His proudest moments came from coaching and traveling with his three daughters, “The Pratt Girls”, to various tournaments across the U.S. He enjoyed sharing his love and knowledge of bowling with youth bowlers in the area.
Bill was a loving and devoted husband for over 38 years to Linda (Church) Pratt of Troy. He was selfless and would always help others in need. He enjoyed being with and joking with his family and friends. Bill always had a “dad joke” ready to go, right to the very end of his life.
In addition to Linda, Bill is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Leigh A. Pratt and Anthony Oliver of S. Burlington, VT, Elizabeth A. Pratt and Amanda (Gallippo) Pratt of Wheelersburg, OH, and Rebecca A. Pratt and Ashley (Meade) Pratt of Brunswick; two grandchildren, William M. Pratt and Logan G. Thomas; and two sisters and brothers, JoAnne LaBarge, Peggy Bagdriwicz, Michael Mullins, and Martin Pratt. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and his beloved cat Chloe.
A memorial service for Bill will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Bill’s friends and family are invited to a reception following the service at 7:00 p.m. at Uncle Sam Lanes in Troy, NY. Burial will take place in Warren Cemetery in Pittstown.
